About the DeBakey-Diethrich Bulldog Clamp

The DeBakey-Diethrich bulldog clamp is a small, self-retaining vascular clamp. Bulldog clamps have a flat, pincer-like body: squeezing the handles opens the jaws, and releasing them lets a spring close the jaws on the vessel. The clamp can then be left in place without being held.

The jaws carry DeBakey-type atraumatic serrations, which are designed to grip vessel walls with minimal damage. Bulldog clamps of this kind are used for temporary occlusion of vessels.

Catalogues list straight and angled jaws in several jaw lengths. The name also appears as "Dietrich". Spring tension and jaw length differ by maker.
